Science Fiction, by Miquel Barceló, is a clear and pedagogical essay that attempts to define what science fiction is without falling into simplifications. The author provides a useful overview of the main subgenres—from hard sci-fi to dystopia—and rigorously explains their historical evolution. The selection of key works and the connection to other media, especially cinema, enrich the overall perspective of the genre. It may be somewhat concise in parts, but it remains a solid and accessible guide for curious readers.
The cover, with its simple geometric design in green tones, conveys order and modernity with understated elegance. Without embellishment, it feels visually clean and consistent with the book’s informative nature.
